Colleges in Telangana Accepting JEE Main Score: Admission Process 2023

Telangana has 182 engineering colleges offering degrees in streams like Computer Science (C.S.E), Electronics and Communication (ECE), Mechanical, Civil, Information Technology, and many more. Out of 182 colleges in Telangana, only 27 colleges accept JEE Main score for admissions into B. Tech and B.Arch programs. The chart below shows the ratio of government and private colleges in Telangana accepting JEE Main score for admission.

Admission to Telangana Engineering colleges is made based on the rank secured in the entrance exams like TS-EAMCET, TSICET, and JEE Main. The admission through JEE Main score is fall under the ‘Category-B’ admission in most Telangana colleges. The engineering college in Telangana reserves 15% to 30% of seats for admission through JEE Main merit list. 

How to apply for Colleges after JEE Main 2023?

After the declaration of JEE Main and JEE Advanced results, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts counseling for seat allotments in the participating institutes. JEE Main score is accepted for admission into NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, some state government or public universities, and private colleges. Along with JoSAA counseling, every state conducts counseling for state institutes. 

For JoSAA Counselling

JoSAA conducts 6 rounds of counseling for admission into NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and other participating institutes.

Step 1: Register on the official website of JoSAA at josaa.nic.in. Login to the portal through JEE Main or JEE Advanced application number. The details will be fetched automatically. Also, modifications in details can be made if required. 

Step 2: Candidates after registration have to fill in choices of programs offered by participating institutes. Candidates can fill in as many choices of programs available. The choices must be filled in priority order according to the rank. Candidates would have seven days to submit the choices.

Step 3: JoSAA will display Mock Seat Allocation- I based on choices filled. According to mock seat allocation, candidates can change or rearrange their choices before locking. Then Mock Seat-II will be allocated, after which candidates can lock their choices.

Step 4: Seat Allocation (Round I) will be released after 2-3 days of Mock Seat-II Allocation. If the candidate gets the seat they need to report online by paying fees, uploading required documents, and responding to queries (if any). Otherwise, wait for the next round of allocation.

Step 5: After the allocation of a seat, candidates get four options - Freeze, Float, Slide, and Withdraw.

Step 6: As per the option selected by the candidate, the seat allocation is decided. Whatever institute is allocated in the last round (Round 6), candidates have options of accepting the allocated institute or withdrawing from the counseling. 

Step 7: If the candidates have accepted the allocated institute, then they need to pay the Partial Admission Fee (PAF) online through JoSAA which will be transferred to the allocated institute. 

Even after 6 rounds of counseling if the candidates do not get a seat in any institute, then they can register themselves for CSAB counseling. CSAB conducts 2 rounds of counseling for admission into NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.

For State-Level Counselling

Many states conduct counseling for admission to their engineering institutes based on JEE Main score. It is important to note, these states' counseling reserves a major percentage of seats (about 70 percent) for admission through their state entrance examination but also considers JEE Main score for admission to the remaining seats. The following state counseling accepts JEE Main score for admission:

Step 1: Visit the official website of the state-level counseling committee wherever the candidate wishes to apply.

Step 2: Check the participating institutes list available on the website. According to the participating institute, prepare the institute list as per the priority.

Step 3: Register for counseling. Provide every detail including JEE Main Rank, Percentile, Application Number, Date of Birth, and other details carefully.

Step 4: After registration, candidates need to fill in the choices of programs as per priority and wait for the allocation result.

Step 5: If a candidate gets the desired program at the desired institute, then he/she has to pay the partial admission fee (which will be adjusted in the 1st-semester fee). Or if a candidate does not get a seat they can wait for the next round of counseling.

Step 6: After completion of all rounds and seat allocation, a candidate has to visit the allocated institute for admission formalities like document verification, and registration.

Direct Admission to Colleges Based on JEE Main Score

Since the intake in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and other state government institutes is limited, not every candidate gets admission to such institutes. However, multiple prestigious institutes give direct admission to candidates based on their JEE Main score. A list of such institutes is given below:

Top Colleges in Hyderabad Accepting JEE Main Score

Hyderabad is the hub of engineering colleges that have some top colleges including IIIT Hyderabad, University of Hyderabad, Mahindra University, CBIT, and many more. The JEE Main cut-off (Rank) range for these colleges is 445 - 5000. The expenses and fees of these colleges are around INR 6 to 15 Lakhs. Students from these colleges get an average package of 4.5 LPA to 18 LPA.
