Ques. What are the passing criteria for CBSE Class 12 exams?

Ans. CBSE Class 12 exams have two main components to consider for passing: securing a minimum grade in each subject and passing both internal assessments and external exams. Here's a breakdown of the criteria:

  • Minimum Grade: You need to secure a grade higher than "E" (which translates to at least 33% marks) in all five subjects you take in the external exam. This applies to both the main exams and any compartmental exams you might take later.
  • Internal Assessments and Practical Exams (if applicable): You must also pass the internal assessments conducted by your school for each subject. For subjects with a practical component (like Science), you need to secure at least 33% marks in both the theory part and the practical exam separately.
  • You just need to meet the 33% threshold in each subject (theory and practical parts if applicable) and pass the internal assessments.
  • CBSE doesn't award divisions or distinctions based on total marks.

I did HSC (SCIENCE) and then went on to do BCom and have completed my graduation in BCom from Maharashtra State Board. But I wish to go back to science and pursue my studies in medicine and so I want to give my 12th board exams again from CBSE Board. Is it possible for me to give 12th exams from CBSE Board in 2024?

Although there has been no specific age criteria to register and take CBSE class XII examination, the minimum age is usually considered to be 17 years. I suggest you to visit the school where you want to get admission for detailed information.

What is the marking scheme of CBSE XII exam?
C
chitransha

The marking scheme of the CBSE 12th exam depends on each subject from the syllabus. In general, the overall marks for each subject will be 100. These 100 marks are divided into two parts. 80 percent of marks are allotted to the theory paper and the remaining 20 percent is for the practical exam. You can check the marking scheme of each exam individually.
