NEET Admit Card

NEET Admit Card 2024

NEET admit card 2024 will be your entry ticket to the test center on May 5, 2024. No candidate will be permitted to enter the test center without a printout of the NTA issued NEET 2024 admit card. For example, female candidates are not allowed to wear high heels, hairpins and hairbands; male candidates are not allowed to wear track pants and shoes.

NEET Syllabus

NEET 2024 Syllabus and Pattern

NEET 2024 exam pattern is the same as last year. There are 200 questions in total with an internal choice in section B of each subject. Effectively, you are required to attempt only 180 questions (45 questions each in zoology, botany, physics, chemistry).

Each question carries 4 marks with a negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer. The paper is conducted in offline (OMR-based) format, thereby allowing you to attempt any section and subject in whatever sequence you prefer.

As far as the syllabus of NEET 2024 is concerned, you have to study chemistry, physics and biology (zoology + botany) of class 11th and 12th level NCERTs. The questions are easy to moderate and around 70-75% questions are direct NCERT based. After the reduction in NEET syllabus this year, there are approximately 79 chapters to study (97 earlier).

The major change this year has been in NEET chemistry syllabus where 9 units have been straightaway deleted. Briefly, NEET 2024 syllabus for chemistry comprises 4 units from inorganic chemistry, 8 units each from organic and physical chemistry. Although the syllabus for inorganic chemistry is the least, the questions are more difficult.

Experimental skills is a new unit in physics NEET 2024 syllabus. Apart from this, there are 19 units in the syllabus. In NEET biology syllabus, you have to prepare 10 units (5 each from class 11 and 12 syllabus). In the past years, class 11 biology syllabus has been awarded a higher weightage, approx. 8-10% more than the 12th syllabus.

NEET Preparation

NEET 2024 Preparation

With NEET 2024 fast approaching, it is essential you streamline your preparation for the last month. During April 2024, your focus should be on revision of the syllabus through NCERTs. The chapters with higher weightage in the past 2-3 years should be your priority in the first 10 days.

Equally important is solving previous year papers to get an exact idea of your preparation level. The other benefit of attempting NEET PYQs in the last month is getting an insight into the topics you may have missed out on or the chapters that require another revision.

The next most significant aspect of NEET 2024 last month strategy is attempting mock tests and sample papers. These are readily available online on the websites of top coaching institutes. You can also find 25+ NEET mock tests for free using the link provided. Attempting NEET mock tests has dual benefits, the first one being practice & time management and the second is getting an idea of the ideal attempt target with accuracy.

NEET Paper Analysis

NEET is among the toughest entrance exams in India owing to the high number of applicants and low pass percentage (55-56%). On an average, about 50% questions are easy and direct NCERT based, 40% are moderately hard, and only 10% are tough to answer.

  • Questions from Inorganic chemistry are comparative tougher than physical and organic chemistry
  • Physics is easy to moderate. The difficult questions are mostly from chapters of gravitation, dual nature of matter and radiation, and wave optics.
  • In biology, questions from botany are comparatively tougher than zoology.

The difficulty level surely varies every year as the 2023 exam was much easier compared to the 2022 and 2021 papers. Check last 10 year’s detailed analysis of NEET exam

NEET Result

NEET 2024 Result and Cut off

NTA has announced June 13 as the NEET 2024 result date. NEET result 2024 will be released in the form of a scorecard accessible through login at neet.ntaonline.in. The marks, percentile and rank indicated in the result are final and no revaluation and rechecking is allowed under any circumstances. Your NEET 2024 score remains valid for the current academic year, i.e. 2024-25 only.

Along with the result, NTA will also publish the list of NEET toppers, overall statistics (including gender-wise, state-wise, language-wise, category-wise number of students appeared and qualified NEET 2024), and the NEET cut off passing marks. The qualifying percentile is fixed at 50 for GEN/ EWS, 40 for SC/ ST/ OBC, and 45 for GEN-PwD. The corresponding passing marks are released only with the result. Based on past year’s trends, NEET 2024 expected cut off is 130+ for Gen/ EWS and 105-129 for OBC/ SC/ ST.

Only qualifying NEET is not enough for admission to the colleges. You will require above 600 for top MBBS government colleges and above 450 for private MBBS colleges and government BDS colleges. For example, last year’s closing rank (the rank at which the last admission is granted) for AIIMS Delhi was just 57 (score above 700) for the GEN category, 2199 (660+ marks) for King George’s Medical College in round 3.

There are several steps involved in NEET exam before the final admission. Students have to first register for the examination, upload the necessary documents, provide your preference for colleges and courses, participate in the counselling process, and report to the college allotted for the completion of the admission process. Once these processes are over, the alloted college will intimate all the students regarding the session details.

A passport-sized photo should be affixed on the admit card, not a postcard-sized photo. However, it is recommended to use the same type of photo in the hall ticket. This makes it easier for the investigator to confirm that you are the one taking the exam.
