First, provisional answer key are released which are open for challenge if any with a payment of INR 200 per challenge. Only after the objections raised are scrutinized, NTA release the final answer key pdf along with the results.

NTA has reduced the syllabus for JEE Mains 2024. Keeping in mind the reduction in syllabus across national and state boards and NCERT, NTA has deleted 11 chapters and several other topics. 8 chapters have been deleted from JEE Chemistry, 2 from Maths and 1 from Physics. JEE Main 2024 Counselling: JoSAA, CSAB, CSAB NEUT
JEE Main 2024 Counselling is conducted through two major processes- JoSAA and CSAB. First JoSAA Counselling is conducted offering admission to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 29 Other GFTIs. Once JoSAA Counselling concludes, CSAB conducts different rounds of counselling for admission to the vacant seats after JoSAA and the other specific seats under CSAB NEUT, SFTI, etc.

JEE Main 2024 Eligibility Marks in 12th, JoSAA Top 20 Percentile
According to JEE Main 2024 eligibility, those who have passed class 12th or are appearing in 2024 were eligible to apply for the exam.
- Age Limit: There is no age limit in JEE Mains 2024. Those who have completed class 12th in 2022 and 2023 or are appearing students in 2024 are eligible to register for JEE Mains 2024 session 2.
- Marks in Class 12: Candidates need a minimum 75% in 12th (65% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates)
- Mandatory Subjects: Candidates must have studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational Subject.
- State Code of Eligibility: The State Code of Eligibility is the code of the state from where a candidate has passed Class 12 or equivalent exam. For example, suppose a candidate has appeared for Class 12 boards from an Institution situated in New Delhi but is a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh. In that case, the candidate’s State code of eligibility is Delhi and not Uttar Pradesh.
- JoSAA Top 20 percentile: Those who fail to meet the requirement of minimum 75% marks in 12th can be eligible for JEE Mains 2024 provided they are among the top 20 percentile students in 12th board exams conducted by respective boards. The JEE Main top 20 percentile is the cut off mark out of 500 (total marks in board exam). Last year,
- JEE Main top 20 percentile for CBSE Class 12th is 436 for IIT and 420 for NIT+System for General category students.
- JEE Main top 20 percentile for ISC is 452 for IIT and 446 for NIT+System for the General category.

According to the reports by NTA, a total of 12,21,624 candidates had registered for JEE Mains 2024 session 1, of which 11,70,048 appeared for the exam. Following a similar trend, 11,89,174 candidates have registered for JEE Mains 2024 session 2 exam. Of these, 48.3% candidates are the same as those who appeared for the exam in the January session.
