DTU and NSIT are older institutes so have better brand value and alumni network than the recently established IIITD. Here are a few factors you would like to consider before choosing one of these Placements : DTU and NSIT are the best options if your ultimate goal is getting placed at a big company with a high package. Multiple CPA packages are offered by top firms like Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. So for placements, the preference order is NSIT>>DTU>>>IIIT D. Research : If you are a research enthusiast then the well-equipped research labs and highly trained professors of IIIT Delhi will serve you best. Most of the professors are Ph.D. holders from foreign universities. The preference order for research culture is IIIT D>NSIT~DTU. College life: NSIT has the best college life with many societies, clubs, and sports facilities. There is a club for everything you name drama, dance, music, quizzing, photography, IEEE, CSI, coding, and algorithms. DTU also has a great extracurricular environment but the high strength dampens the thrill.  Higher studies: IIIT Delhi has the maximum MS admissions because of its research-based curriculum. A good grasp of these will fetch you a high-paying job no matter which branch you belong to in IIT Delhi. Although most companies that visit IIT Delhi also visit NIT, your IIT tag will always fetch you extra benefits and no one can deny that. Ans. There are two sides to every coin. Similarly, there are many reasons why one must choose IIT Delhi over IIT Mumbai and vice versa. To make it further understandable, I have listed some common pros and cons of IIT Delhi Pros You are in proximity to the capital city  It’s easy to prepare for some other exams also apart from Engineering like IAS Hauz Khas village in itself is an absolute treat to the eyes Being in Delhi makes it possible to go for road trips to Jaipur, Chandigarh, Lansdown, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Agra, etc. The Delhi Metro makes commuting quiet easy There are many places to explore and hang out with your friends in the vicinity of the campus. Cons CS department of IIT Bombay is way better than IIT Delhi offering a plethora of diverse courses. The campus of IIT Bombay has more natural landscape and greenery in comparison to IIT Delhi. This enhances the climate and overall ambiance inside the campus  Unlike IIT Delhi, the hostel facilities are much better at IIT Bombay while Delhi hostels are overly crowded. Delhi faces extreme climatic conditions whereas the weather of IIT Bombay somehow remains the same throughout the year. Ans. Do you think getting admission to the most coveted branch will also give access to the most coveted housing facilities? Well, you are wrong, inside IIT your rank has no value. You will be treated like any other student with equal amenities at your disposal. At IIT Delhi, every student is allotted a room randomly without any discrimination. First-year students usually get 2-seater or 3-seater rooms depending on the hostel they are assigned to.  The single rooms you were asking for are usually allotted in the last year but some lucky students get a single room from the 3rd year in a new hostel like Girnar or Udaigiri. But regardless, your hostel will become your new home. Irrespective of the kind of rooms you are allotted, you get adapted to them and make splendid memories and new friends.Read more

The best way is to break down various components and analyze each parameter individually.  Placements IIT Madras's average package in 2023 stood at INR 24.4 LPA while IIT Kanpur CSE highest package stood at 1.02 CPA. Ranking IIT Kanpur was ranked 264th by the QS World University Rankings 2023 and #4 by NIRF for the year 2023 in the Engineering category whereas IIT Madras is ranked #1 by NIRF. Campus IIT Madras has a 630 acres campus with many sports facilities like a gym, badminton courts, a swimming pool, and a cricket ground to name a few. The labs, library, and overall infrastructure are top-notch. IIT Kanpur is one of the biggest IIT campuses spread across 1000 acres. It has a dynamic campus life with many fests and activities. The library is huge and there is a club for everything. Overall, IIT Madras seems to be in a better position than IIT Kanpur although both are excellent institutes of technical education.Read more

It’s difficult to say which is better between the Mechanical Engineering program at IIT Madras and CSE at NIT Trichy, as both are highly reputable institutions with strong engineering programs. Both offer excellent curricula, experienced faculty, and ample opportunities for research and extracurricular activities.  Joining NIT Trichy for CSE is a good choice if You are more interested in computer science and software development If you are only after the CS roles and placements. The placements of this branch are pretty good at NIT Trichy with the average package at INR 17-24 LPA and placement rate at 98-100%. If you want to pursue higher studies in MS Joining IIT Madras for Mechanical Engineering is a good choice if You are looking for an amazing campus life and the IIT tag You are open to non-core jobs because core Mechanical jobs are average.  If you want to start a career in CS by learning to code or taking minor courses in CS Some other options to consider are CSE at IIIT Hyderabad or new IITs ECE at IIT Guwahati  EE at IIT Hyderabad  All these have average packages above 20 LPA and are excellent options. The preference order for branches on the basis of job prospects and the current demands in the market is as follows CSE > M&C > ECE > EE All these branches are open to software profiles whereas other branches usually offer non-core profiles even Mechanical. If you're interested in pursuing design-oriented courses closely related to mechanical engineering, this department is worth considering. The dual degree program in Engineering design has a good scope for campus placements, which are comparable to placements in the mechanical engineering department. Although there are not many seats available for undergraduates, it's surprising to note that the department closes at lower ranks in JEE than other departments such as Civil engineering and Chemical engineering. The engineering design department also offers better core job packages than the aforementioned departments. Ans. In my opinion, you have made the right decision by dropping the PITS Pilani EEE branch for IIT Madras Metallurgy. My cousin was forced to take IIT Madras Metallurgy by his mother. Initially, he was disappointed but his mother advised him to continue with the same enthusiasm he cleared JEE. Many students after getting admission relax and this opens opportunities for those who continue to slog even after admission. Your ultimate goal should be to change your branch for which you will have to work hard. This can be done by staying among the top 5% of the batch with around 9 CGPA. You can switch to Mechanical and even to Electrical sometimes with a good CGPA. All you have to do is Focus on your subjects Do well in the tutorials Perform well on quiz  Ace your practicals  Score high in the Final semester exam IIT Madras has a plethora of subjects to choose from in addition to a dual degree. You can change your branch provided your academic performance is at par with the requirements in the 3rd year. Some other highlights that might convince you further to choose IIT Madras are Creative clubs like C5 help in harnessing skills in your area of interest. These clubs have made amazing innovations and you can always learn so much by being a part of them.
