You've already worked your fingers to the bone, and all you have to do now is wait for the final shortlist.

The degree of movement on the IIM waitlist is generally determined by the overlapping pool of candidates shortlisted by various IIMs. The movement in IIMs for the General and NC-OBC categories is usually not extreme from the standard numbers, whereas for other categories, this can vary significantly from year to year.

IIM Ahmedabad sees one of the lowest waitlist movements among the top MBA colleges. The waitlist movements here generally remain in a single digit. For the 2023-25 batch, the waitlist moved by about 1 in the general category, while it was about 5 in NC-OBC Category. The number was about 11 for SC category .

Just like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore sees one of the lowest waitlist movements among IIMs. The waitlist movement of IIM-B is generally greater than IIM-A because of people choosing IIM-A over IIM-B if they get offers from both. The waitlist movement in the general category was about 33 for the batch of 2023-25.

IIM Calcutta sees a little more waitlist movement as compared to IIM Ahmedabad and Bangalore. This happens because of the overlap of offers from IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore. Generally, a student who has offers from IIM-A + IIM-C or IIM-A + IIM-B prefers IIM-A.

IIM Indore is also regarded as one of the oldest IIMs of our country. Despite being a top MBA college, it sees a huge waitlist movement. If we go by the 2023-25 batch numbers, the waitlist movement was about 604 for the general category and 57 for the NC-OBC category. For SC and ST, the respective figures were around 197 and 93.
