IELTS listening is a 30 minutes task to answer 40 questions. The IELTS listening format for both academic and general training is the same. The listening section of IELTS focuses on 4 different sections. The first two recordings comprises with situations that candidates might experience in everyday. The last two recordings deals with situations that might occur in an educational institute.
In IELTS Listening Part 1, you will get a conversation between two speakers (for example, a conversation about travel arrangements). in the Part 2 of IELTS Listening, only one person speaks which is a monologue (for example, a speech about local facilities). Parts 3 and 4 of the IELTS Listening section deals with educational and training situations. Part 3 consists of a conversation between two main speakers and Part 4 has only one person speaking on an academic subject. The listening section for IELTS Academic and IELTS General is same.
The recordings are played only once in IELTS Exam pattern and are not repeated. To prepare for IELTS listening at home, you must practice regularly with authentic materials, develop strong note-taking skills, and focus on understanding various accents and speech patterns. To get 8.5 in IELTS listening, candidates must answer 36 out of 40 questions correctly. You will also have 10 minutes at the end of the test to transfer your answers to the sheet.
