CBSE Class 12th Grading System

CBSE Class 12 Grading System, CGPA to Percentage Calculation

CBSE follows a 9-point grading scale for class 12th examinations. These grades are categorized into A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D, E1, E2 and each signifies a specific marks range and grade point value. The same has been tabulated below for your reference:

Marks Range Grade Grade Point
91-100 A1 10.0
81-90 A2 9.0
71-80 B1 8.0
61-70 B2 7.0
51-60 C1 6.0
41-50 C2 5.0
33-40 D 4.0
21-32 E1 0
0-20 E2 0

What is CGPA? CGPA is just the average of the grade points of the subjects. For example, you have secured A1, A2, A1, B2, and A2 in the top 5 subjects. So, your CGPA is equal to the average of the grade point of these 5 subjects, i.e.

CGPA = (10 + 9 + 10 + 7 + 9)/ 5
= 45/ 5
= 9

If you wish to calculate the percentage equivalent of CGPA, just multiply the CGPA score with 9.5. For example, 9 CGPA in percentage is equal to 9 x 9.5, i.e 85.5%.

R
rency daniel

Most colleges require a minimum of 50-60% in class 12 exams to be eligible for undergraduate programs. However, some colleges may have different percentage requirements for different courses. For example, students with less than 50% marks can get admission to any of the top state or central level Universities and also private universities.
