What students say about The University of Sydney

Likes

  • Amazing, very good for the profession and gives great practical experience - one of, if not the best course ever!
  • My university program features an internship in the third year of study, so I believe that employability and job prospects are a significant focus for the University of Sydney.
  • I have not had the opportunity to check this out yet; however, I have heard that the employment rate is excellent.
  • Infrastructure is excellent with very modern facilities and a lot of options for extracurricular activities.
  • I have not had the chance to live there, but I have looked up some apartments that are in walking vicinity of the school, and they cost about 400-800 AUD/week for rent alone to live in an area close to USYD.
  • I believe that the professors and tutors in the arts and media communications faculty are highly qualified and knowledgeable.
  • I chose this university because it has an excellent Computer Science program that ranks in the top 50 universities in the world.

Dislike

  • I feel that the course syllabus is slightly outdated as it fails to acknowledge certain aspects of economics that I learned during my 12th grade.
  • There is not really a fee structure; there is a fee per subject, as well as contribution fees to the university.
  • I transferred because the US is currently in a very bad state and is not looking too bright for employment when I graduate.

  • I have expected the university to have a placement cell where they call companies for campus placements, but nothing of this sort exists. We ourselves need to apply to companies and go through the recruitment process, university just trains us. This is the only thing until now which disappointed me.

I would say University of Sydney gives an excellent experience overall if we see holistically. The residents of the country play a very important role in our perception formation of how we like the place, and Australians are one the warmest people I met.

The University of Sydney is among the top ranked universities of the world who delivers some great post graduate courses. The policy to encourage critical and systems thinking in their teaching and research is really timely and most appropriate given the era that we live in. Most importantly, the graduate courses in project management they offer are unique owing to the general subject content that covers a wide range and the industry focus.

I was enrolled in New York University as a Business Technology Management student for 2 years. I was 17 at the time and felt pressured by my parents to go to a well-known university to study the same major they did. In New York, I quickly realized that I did not feel fulfilled doing my major, and struggled a lot with my mental health. Mental health is a taboo topic in my home country, Indonesia, and that fact alone fueled my life goal of helping people, and so I took a special interest in the way our brain functions in hopes of advancing science and medicine that would be useful for people in the future as well as removing the negative stigma on mental illnesses. I decided it was time to take a leap of faith and moved half way across the world to USYD as I heard very amazing things about their science and research faculty. So, here I am studying Neuroscience and Psychology in a university that I love.
